How I work

Ground · Read · Choose · Move.

Four steps. Walked through every session. Practised across every engagement.

This is the work I learned in two seats: fifteen years on the trading desk in international commodity markets, then as an ICF-certified coach. On a trading desk you learn to read signal in noise, decide with incomplete information, and act with conviction under time pressure. Under different pressure, leaders need the same thing. My job is to restore that access — and to walk you through it until it's yours.

Why this exists

In every role I've held — and in every client I work with now — I have seen the same pattern.

Under pressure, capable people lose their access to three things at once:

  • the body (they brace, push through, override fatigue)

  • the pattern (they react to noise instead of reading signal)

  • the self (they decide from what's expected, not from what's true)

They don't lose intelligence. They lose clarity.

This framework is the way back.

  • Return to the body. You cannot read signals while braced.

We start every session — and most of my engagements — by slowing the system enough to think. Breath. Stillness. Sometimes a question that gets you off the spinning wheel of the week.

This is the precondition for everything that follows. A nervous system in survival mode cannot make a strategic decision.

  • Once you're grounded, three reads:

    • Pattern. What is repeating in your decisions, your relationships, your business? Where have you been here before?

    • System. What is the wider structure you're operating inside — your team, your industry, your family, your story? Where does it want you to fail without telling you?

    • Self. What does the underlying you actually want? Not the version of you optimized for the role, but the one beneath it.

All three reads happen together. The trader looks for the pattern. The systems-trained coach reads the structure. The body-aware attention reads the self beneath it.

  • Now you can decide.

A decision made from Ground and Read is different from a decision made under pressure. It is slower, but it is yours. It holds up the next morning. It holds up six months later.

This is where most of my sessions land — at a decision, named clearly, made cleanly.

  • Then act.

Aligned action, visible to others, anchored in what you just decided. Small enough to be real this week. Big enough to matter.

    Then we return to Ground.

What this looks like across an engagement

A single session walks the four steps in sixty to ninety minutes.

A six- or twelve-month engagement walks them at the scale of your life:

The first is Ground — slowing the system, building the capacity to think clearly.

The middle phase is mostly Read — surfacing patterns, mapping the system, listening for the self underneath the role.

The back half moves through Choose and Move — decisions made cleanly, actions taken visibly, identity caught up with the change.

And then — quietly — you find yourself doing it on your own. Which is the point.

Why it works

This work integrates three layers at once: body, pattern, self. When all three come back online, decisions get easier, clarity returns, and the next move stops feeling impossible.

This is the work.
